| New tax limits for pension due to raised target retirement age |
| |
Due to an increased life expectancy for the population of the Netherlands, the target retirement age will be raised from 67 to 68 as per 1 January 2018. This is an automatic process resulting from legislation. The increase will allow your employees to accrue pension for another year. Because of this the maximum annual tax-deductible pension contribution is lowered. This means that you may need to adjust your pension scheme in order to remain compliant with tax legislation. You can expect more detailed information from us - no later than September - on the exact consequences for your pension scheme.

A fixed or variable pension for your employees
| |
When your employees retire, they purchase a pension using their accrued pension capital. Opting for a fixed pension payment means choosing certainty; the exact amount of their life-long pension is known in advance. The government recently introduced the option of a variable pension benefit, which involves the continued investment of the pension capital after the retirement date. As a result, the actual amount of the pension benefit may vary annually. It depends on the returns on investment achieved. Though a variable pension offers less certainty, it is expected to yield more.
This has prompted Aegon PPI to renew its pension subscription. We will send you more information on this subject within the next two weeks.
